Things That Go Bump in the Night
A Paranormal Experience Guest Post

(Elena) Kelli and I had an amazing paranormal experience last year when we were at the Desert Rose Conference in Arizona with Amber.

Things went amiss not long after our arrival. Since Kelli and I shared a suite at the conference, we witnessed this craziness first hand.

(Kelli) You arrived at the conference before I did. I think you’re the one that started it all. Justin had a thing for you...

(Elena) Hush. Let me tell the story So, after our first night there, I wake up the next morning and go into the bathroom. All of the towels that were on the shelf had fallen on the floor. I just assumed Kelli had gotten up through the night and done it accidentally. Or she had too much to drink and decided to redecorate.

(Kelli) Redecorating is the last thing on my mind when drinking. But back to the story. What was even stranger is that the room we were staying in was at the very end of the building. We couldn’t blame it on the person in the next suite because the bathroom was on the outer wall. So no slamming doors could cause the towels to fall. Creeped out yet? Keep reading...

(Elena) The next day we had to switch rooms and they put us in a room where we had to share a bed.

(Kelli) Good thing we’re best friends, right Elena ~_^

(Elena) Um. Yeah...Could have been kinda awkward. We went to sleep that night and I heard a clapping sound. I thought it was Kelli. I asked her what she was doing and she said she thought it was me.

(Kelli) Yep. I thought Elena had a compact in her hand and had closed it shut. She thought I was trying to use the old “clap on, clap off” method for the lights. As if... ~_^

(Elena) Ha! Then I heard someone breathing in my ear. That really freaked me out. I told Kelli there was someone uninvited in bed with us.

(Kelli) It was more like, “Holy Sh*t! Something’s in bed with us.” LoL. I couldn’t deny it. I had a cold chill wash over me. I’ve always been sensitive to things of this nature. It felt like someone was pressing against my chest.

(Elena) I told whoever was in the room that we were jet lagged and not in the mood to play. He needed to move on and have fun with someone else. No menage a ghost happening that night.

(Kelli) She didn’t know it was a guy until I told her. Another friend who was staying in the same building came in the next morning. Being a sensitive herself, she was able to confirm what we were experiencing. She didn’t know at the time that I thought it was a guy.

(Elena) She told us that he had visited her the night before too. We asked what time and it was right after we told him to scram. (Freaky huh?) Since she’s able to ‘see’ beyond this realm, I asked her what time period he looked like he was from. She thought the 70’s maybe. Did I mention that I named him? Calling him “ghost” seemed rude so I called him Justin.

(Kelli) I tried to mention his name before you hushed me... Anyway, we asked some of the other authors at the conference if anything weird happened to them. And you know as writers we eat this stuff up. A story was already brewing.

(Elena) Yes. Menage a Ghost!

(Kelli) What a title...

(Elena) One of the authors said that her door kept slamming on her finger and while they were at a seminar their toilet plugged. I figured it was Kelli’s fault after she ate that burrito for lunch.

(Kelli) Um, that would have been you. *Shakes head* The ghost visited once more after that. He showed up our last morning there. Elena was fast asleep, but my eyes flew open at 6am on the dot. I had fallen asleep the night before in my clothes. (too much tequila) I had this long necklace on, and it had slid across my chest to my arm, which was tucked under my pillow. There was a vibration that spread across the necklace. Like someone was tapping it. It happened twice. After the second time, I just smiled. I knew it was Justin. That was the last we heard from him.

(Elena) When I was on the shuttle to the airport I asked the driver if anything strange happened in that hotel. He asked what part we stayed in. I told him at the back across from the pool. He said a teenage boy had tried to jump from the balcony into the pool and missed. It happened right above our room. I asked when he died and he said early 80’s. So he confirmed that our frisky ghost was real.

(Kelli) Freaky thing is, I think Justin followed Elena home. While writing this post, she had a couple ‘strange’ occurrences going on. Does this all sound crazy? Sure it does, but isn’t paranormal all about the ‘unnatural’ or ‘abnormal’ flow of things in life? Yup. Welcome to our world...

(Amber) It’s true! I heard all about this first hand within hours of it happening! Okay, so that doesn’t make me an actual witness, but still. I’ve had enough paranormal experiences myself that I rarely doubt another’s.
My latest one happened one morning as I woke my daughter up. Sunlight streamed in on her sweet little face. She was on the bottom bunk fast asleep and as I sat down to kiss her awake, I heard a noise on the upper bunk’s. It sounded like sheets rustling. Then the mattress moved, depressing and returning to normal, like a knee or rearend had pressed on it. I thought for a split second our cat must be up there.

Except we don’t have a cat.

So I popped up, thinking my son must have come in at some point to sleep in her room. Nope. Nothing. Just a bunch of stuffed animals staring back at me. But I know what I saw and heard. The rustling of sheets, a mattress indention, and that unmistakable feel of goosebumps covering my skin whenever something spooky happens.

The Best Mail Call Ever!

Last year, I secretly mailed a handwritten letter to someone. I wasn't expecting a reply.

Today, I had to drop by the post office to send off some surprise swag, and I decided to check my mailbox while I was there. Well, guess what? I got a reply! I can not stop smiling.

I express my sincere gratitude to Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II and the Majesty's Royal Correspondence Officer, Madam Sonia Bonici, for thoughtfully replying to my letter.

Synopsis:
Life is good for assassin Amelia Jay. With a supernatural gift that allows her to appear as anyone she chooses, Amelia views the world as her stage. Distracted by an unexpected pregnancy while on a job, Amelia’s world comes crashing down around her when she is forced to reveal her powers to the only man she has ever cared for.

Kingsley O’Hare may not be in a legal position of power, but under the surface he has the city at his disposal. From drugs to human trafficking, he has gained his fair share of enemies. When he learns about Amelia’s talents as an assassin, he knows he must have her on his team. So when Amelia walks out on his job offer, he thinks she is gone for good. That is, until she is faced with a dilemma and is forced to ask him for a favor.

Fulfilling her agreement with Kingsley, Amelia must decide if she is willing to give up the only lifestyle she has known in order to provide for her unborn child. When the decision is made for Amelia, she must stand up for those who are unable to fight for themselves, even if that means losing herself in the process. Will Amelia’s power be enough to save her?

            Excerpt from Prologue:
Victory was mine the day I saw my mother’s essence leave her body and wrap itself around me like a cloak. I had her memories, her skills, and her looks. I could be her forever – if I wanted. I sometimes find myself wondering if there is anything left between us that is redeemable but feeling the extent of her fear and disgust towards me now as it coursed through my veins, I knew there was nothing salvageable left. Instead, I shrugged her essence off of me and watched it return to the motionless body on the floor. The world became my stage and I was determined to play the lead role.

Now, I am anything and anyone I want, because I am a Stager.

                         I am you.

The Shadow Tour Blog Stop plus Giveaway!

Hello, readers! Today it's my pleasure to welcome my guest, Adrian LupÅŸa, author of Necessary Evil. Be sure to check out the giveaway below!

Adrian, can you tell my readers and me about how it is that you began blogging and writing, and the point at which you decided to publish your book?

Ever since I can remember I loved literature, reading and especially writing, making up my own stories, stepping into a fantasy world of my own. When I was 12 years old I got a computer that changed my life. From that moment I knew what I wanted to be, what I wanted to do, so here am I - student at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Ovidius University of Constantza.
In February 2012, I wanted to have a blog and I chose Blogger services and published a few posts that were in the Computer Science & IT domain. I was thinking if this is going to be a success I will have an advantage when I finish college. Unfortunately, I found it very difficult to promote my blog, so I switched to Wordpress. There, I started to write about different things from my life and thanks to the news feed (a facility that Wordpress has) the blog’s popularity grew quickly. I continued posting and my work became more and more appreciated. I was doing something I like, I was writing about the things I love.

When I was in high school, I wrote some poems and short stories, but I never published them. I regained the interest in writing when I met a person who was reading a lot of books and I remembered the old times. After I began to blog, I thought that it would be great if I could write a short story and an idea just popped in my head. I wanted to publish it somewhere on the Internet and find out the opinion of the people around the world. In a week it was done, but the result was not the one I expected. I felt that something was missing, so I decided to write a “real book” —  a novel. I think it took me about one month to write it and two others to translate and edit the manuscript. The novel was originally written in Romanian, but I heard about the Amazon KDP Services and I knew that this was a great opportunity to launch my book abroad. My family was skeptical about this service (how in the world something can be free?), but the good thing is that I heard about a lot of self-published authors that had success and I gave this service a try.
I remember that before publishing, my sister wanted to read my book and I gave her a copy of the manuscript. She read it in a few days and she started to ask me a lot of questions and I knew that this was a good sign. Now she is waiting for the second book of the series because, in Necessary Evil,  some things remain unsolved.
Currently I am supposed to work on the second book, but I started a short story and I wrote about 6.000 words and I’m only at the beginning of the story, so I will probably end with another novel. This is going to be a very busy year for me, because I have the graduation and I still want to blog, write, read and have a life in the same time, but I have to keep myself on position, to give the best I have.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
At almost eighteen years, Christine considers herself an adult, a grown woman, with her own principles and ideas about life, ready for every challenge that she would have to face. Or at least this is what she thinks. When her parents go on a business trip, Christine decides to invite the most handsome boy in school in her house. After a party with her friends, strange things start happening in the Taylor’s house. The girl tries to find out what is going on and in the same time wants to have a normal life along with her friends. Christine discovers a connection between the silhouettes inside her house and the dreams she has lately, but will she be able to regain peace knowing that she must release a greater evil?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Wishing You Happy Holidays (plus a GIVEAWAY!)

Hiya, guys!

The Holidays are here and 2012 will soon be gone. I've had a wonderful year getting to know new people online and in the real world.

A Quick Recap of 2012:
My book, Creatura, was picked up by a wonderful foreign publisher. I took some great trips that inspired my muse and I'm sure I'll be able to use the experiences in my writing. Best of all, I was able to give back to the fans by having lots and lots of giveaways!

My year wasn't entirely fun filled, though. There was lots of work to be done, and there were also some sad times that I won't dwell on. But let's keep our focus on the good times, shall we?

My Wishes for You:
I hope that your year was as wonderful as mine and that the year to come is even better. I love reading your posts and comments on all my social networks and hope that you'll continue to share them with me.

Thank you for your company, your support and your time. May the spirit of this Holiday Season stay with you through out the coming year, and may you have the Happiest of Holidays!

Xo,
Nely

P.S. I included a giveaway and it's international! Good luck!

ABOUT THE BOOK

What if the last place you should fall in love is the first place that you do?

You’d think getting sent to Turning Pines Wilderness Camp for a month-long rehabilitation “retreat” and being forced to re-live it in this journal would be the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.

You’d be wrong.

There’s the reason I was sent to Turning Pines in the first place: I got arrested. On prom night. With my two best friends, who I haven’t talked to since and probably never will again. And then there’s the real reason I was sent here. The thing I can’t talk about with the guy I can’t even think about.

What if the moment you’ve closed yourself off is the moment you start to break open?

But there’s this guy here. Ben. And the more I swear he won’t—he can’t—the deeper under my skin he’s getting. After the thing that happened, I promised I’d never fall for another boy’s lies.

And yet I can’t help but wonder…what if?

EXCERPT
We kept walking on the lake trail, the bullfrogs croaking. There was also a humming in my ears from the nicotine.
It could only be from the nicotine. It had nothing to do with being outside, at night, alone with Ben. It had nothing to do with Ben coming to the cabin and taking me instead of Nez and it definitely had nothing to do with the stars above us shining like they were the sky’s tiara.
I stopped on the trail and looked up, taking them in, when all of a sudden bright colored lights exploded in the sky—fireworks, one after another, on top of each other, huge kaleidoscopes of light, like sparkling rainbow spiders.
“How did you know?” I asked, my voice going softer, like if I talked too loudly they would stop. It was so beautiful, after weeks of so much ugly.
Ben turned to look at me, the colored lights in the sky turning his skin pink, blue, green. “I’m magic.” He shrugged.
I geared up to tell him to fuck off, because that was some corny-ass shit, but then I realized that he really kind of was. In that moment he was able to actually make me forget being me.
“I would try to kiss you,” he said, “but I’m afraid you’d kick me in the balls.”
“I probably would.” I laughed, the sky filling with noisy color like paint launching from a giant popcorn popper. “But like I said, it wouldn’t be about you.”
“I guess I’ll have to figure out how to make it about me,” he said, taking off his boots and socks and standing. “Come on.”
“There is no way I am getting near that water again,” I said.
“I’ll make sure nothing happens to you,” he said, holding his hand out to help me up.
I looked at his palm, open, waiting, just wanting to hold mine. For once, I didn’t think about anything except that there was a cute, sweet, smart-ass boy standing in front of me with his hand out.
I pulled off my boots and socks and took it.
We stood at the lakeshore, our hands still clasped, the water licking our feet, fireworks decorating the sky.
I turned to him. He was looking up, his mouth open in wonder like he was trying to swallow the moment.
It was definitely one worth keeping.

But after a tragic accident claims the life of her mother, Araina is left dumbfounded and finds herself on a much different path: enrolling in the local college in Austin. Convinced that her mother’s death was no accident, she becomes obsessed with finding out the truth, and becomes disconnected from everything around her in the process.

Lucca is the captain of the Resistance: an elite group sworn to protect Araina. He knows the truth about her mother’s death and the future attempts that will be made on Araina’s life due to her being the great-granddaughter of Leto, mother of Artemis and Apollo, which is why it is important he follow the one rule given to him: Don’t get too attached.

Will she stand up and fight or will she lose the one thing everyone has been trying to protect?
Her Life.

Excerpt:
He walked the path back to the house they were using as their headquarters at the moment; though it wasn’t much on the outside the inside made up plenty for it. As he walked in through the door he stopped and looked to the right to stare at his own reflection. Heavy bags hung under his eyes, his tan skin was much duller and his black hair a mess.
“You need to get rest. Huntir and I have everything set up so take this opportunity to gather your strength. Wearing yourself out like this will not be beneficial in guarding her.”
Lucca turned to his older brother Matteo, surprised that he had arrived so soon. “I know, I will go take a shower and get rest, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.” He passed Matteo but not before laying his hand on his brother's shoulder as if silently reassuring him not to worry and that he was fine. Though his brother had pointed out his need for rest, his mind was running around with too many unanswered questions with no way to solve them. But one question he kept going back to was always the same, the one that would matter most in the end.
When he finally reveals the truth to her will she rise from her sorrow and be the savior they needed her to be? Or will she turn away and go into hiding like her mother did and suffer the same fate? As he got to the top of the stairs, without turning around he asked, “Why did you arrive ahead of schedule brother?” he waited for his brother to reply, a heavy silence floated between the two. He did not expect the next few words that came out of his brother’s mouth.
“We have verification on who killed Aella.”
